Sunny's with Daiseys

Painted this a longtime ago and hated it so totally repainted it today after looking at it for weeks and wanted to throw away but talked myself into changing it and I do like it better--for one thing I made the daisies really a lot bigger--they were real small and did not look like daisies --I also made the sunflowers smaller --they were huge and stupid looking. (LOL) I changed the pot as it was awful  before. changed the background ---the whole darn thing changed so it is a new painting---now gotta wash my brushes. happy painting!

Lilacs Revisited

I am taking a class (lecture) from the great local artist, Bob Byerley. Along with the class, we were invited to bring our paintings in and he would critique and give us suggestions on how to improve our work.
He said he loved my vase, but I needed to make the base more rounded (after he told me that, that is all I saw--my mistake! He also said to introduce more color.
I fixed the vase and added more color but then I decided to change the bowl to a gold bowl--when I did that the table looked horrible so I changed it too--I also worked on the lilac laying in front  and scattered some fallen petals. I like it better, hope you do too. I changed it several times till I got the effect I wanted. Happy painting

The Surviviors

It's finished --I am so excited --my son showed me how to crop on my phone--I thought it couldn't be done after the new update, but no, you just do it differently from before. I am such a nerd!  Happy painting!

The Survivors

Closer closer to being done. As you can see I changed a lot of things--guess I should say I changed and added a lot of things. I think one more night and this shall be done--I can see things I need to change already but the brushes are already washed so I can fix another nite. Happy Painting.

The Survivors

Worked a little more on the vase and the two lower Peonies. I was going to work more today, but suddenly got sleepy when realizing that I have to go back to work tomorrow. Lol
I do want to work a little more on the vase and also the biggest front peony and also the one on the left on the top. I  am trying to vary my colors with warm and cool colors and also to vary the pinks--and I am trying not to have all the flowers look the same. So much to think about (I watch a lot of videos from the "Top" artists that I admire--they give us lots to think about to enhance our work.) And I do pray a lot, that definitely helps.
My plans are to also work on the table-top and I am trying to decide if I want to change the background. I made a little more room for myself in the kitchen, and also went to a larger palette. This can only help.

Sorry I took such a crooked photo, I will try to do better next time.  I used to have a tool that I could straighten my photos, but it is gone from the  last updates on my phone and computer--I wish they would leave well enough alone!

The Survivors

Started to work again on this today, and was convinced I forgot to paint, but, I carried on. I spilled a whole glass of water all over the table (I paint at the kitchen table--it went all over my brushes, paint and everything....aargh. This did not help my feeling of not being able to paint, but I carried on anyway.
The last 2 peonies went faster as I didn't care--I changed the table and cloth and also worked on the glass.
I will work again tomorrow after church and see if I can get it to where I like it---it was hard to paint--the paint was real sticky. I think because it rained all day today.
Peonies are hard to paint. sigh

The Survivors

Woo-hoo! Just started a Painting, a real painting!!! I have not painted in so very long.  This is just kinda locating the placement and will change greatly.
I am painting from a photo --It was a week from Mothers' day and we had gobs and gobs of rain.  My peonies in my front yard were laying down after just blooming after the cloud burst. I did not even go look at them, as I thought they were ruined. My daughter, Jaime came over and planted some flowers in my pots on the front porch. She found these among the "drowned ones" and they were beautiful! So I thought, "must do a painting".
TA-DA!

Classes taken on Facebook

These first 6 were done after watching Ogla Furman's e-class on fb--it was a fabulous class teaching us how to draw a portrait --with char-coal -I added colored charcoal, chalk to some of them. I really enjoyed the class and did the lesson over and over as you can see--trying and trying to get a likeness---on some I added "big hair"!  lol  I don't think I ever got a good likeness--but it was good practice to keep trying.

This one was in pencil on white paper--i think this looks a little like the picture I was looking at--maybe, not so much, Ha-Ha
This is Alyssa- my granddaughter---This is a good likeness, I think--this is done in char-coal.
This was the 2nd lesson by Jennifer Alba--It is done in acrylic--we were suppose to use our imaginations of an animal protector (I'm not explaining it right) but I chose a lamb--it was fun and I used mod-podge on her lamb hat and it had sparkles on it.
All this is good to see how other artists do their magic--you can always learn something new and it is exciting!
