Last lesson (6th) from Elizabeth Robbins Silver, Peonies, & Lillies

We had snow again today (and ice) so I was home and decided to work on our last lesson. Not totally pleased but it's better than it was, hopefully. Maybe I will learn to wait to order the correct size canvas as I cant seem to judge the right size of things to fit on a smaller canvas! My flowers always seem to grow.
I'll miss the lessons, I learned a lot in spite of myself--Elizabeth shares so much in each lesson.
happy painting!

Last lesson (6th) from Elizabeth Robbins Silver, Peonies, & Lillies (1st pass)

So sad this is last lesson with Liz. :-(  (1st pass)
She taught this on a 14x18 canvas which I didn't have ( mine was 11x12) so everything is squashed --aargh I went too big on the flowers, I think. Her silver pitcher was much taller and elegant. Mine is fat and short.
I have lot's of changes & corrections to make---I always have to cover everything --then I can see what I need to fix (and I see a lot) I will either fix or I will toss this.  Happy painting and keep warm --this has been the worst winter ever--so cold and so much ice and snow---I will be glad when it's over.

Peach Roses with Copper (lesson 5 with Elizabeth Robbins

I submitted my painting for a critique by Elizabeth Robbins. I hope you can see the improvements.
For one thing she said I had a highlight in the middle of the pot which it shouldn't be. I can't believe I did not see it before she said it --I thought there must be something wrong with the photo I sent her as it was not there! I looked at all the ones I posted and It was on every picture! I ran and looked at my painting and it was there! It wasn't a highlight but a scratch--That proved to me that I don't really see my mistakes -I see want I want to see. She also said my leaves on the right were too much alike-too repetitious. I didn't see that either--I fixed that and I like better. Also she told me I had a tangent with the grape on the right next to the ribbon--that's not good.  I think I noticed that but forgot to fix as I was in a hurry to post or something.  - I wish I had someone to critique all the time as it does help u to see, really see! Well, happy painting all!
