Last lesson (6th) from Elizabeth Robbins Silver, Peonies, & Lillies

We had snow again today (and ice) so I was home and decided to work on our last lesson. Not totally pleased but it's better than it was, hopefully. Maybe I will learn to wait to order the correct size canvas as I cant seem to judge the right size of things to fit on a smaller canvas! My flowers always seem to grow.
I'll miss the lessons, I learned a lot in spite of myself--Elizabeth shares so much in each lesson.
happy painting!

Last lesson (6th) from Elizabeth Robbins Silver, Peonies, & Lillies (1st pass)

So sad this is last lesson with Liz. :-(  (1st pass)
She taught this on a 14x18 canvas which I didn't have ( mine was 11x12) so everything is squashed --aargh I went too big on the flowers, I think. Her silver pitcher was much taller and elegant. Mine is fat and short.
I have lot's of changes & corrections to make---I always have to cover everything --then I can see what I need to fix (and I see a lot) I will either fix or I will toss this.  Happy painting and keep warm --this has been the worst winter ever--so cold and so much ice and snow---I will be glad when it's over.

Peach Roses with Copper (lesson 5 with Elizabeth Robbins

I submitted my painting for a critique by Elizabeth Robbins. I hope you can see the improvements.
For one thing she said I had a highlight in the middle of the pot which it shouldn't be. I can't believe I did not see it before she said it --I thought there must be something wrong with the photo I sent her as it was not there! I looked at all the ones I posted and It was on every picture! I ran and looked at my painting and it was there! It wasn't a highlight but a scratch--That proved to me that I don't really see my mistakes -I see want I want to see. She also said my leaves on the right were too much alike-too repetitious. I didn't see that either--I fixed that and I like better. Also she told me I had a tangent with the grape on the right next to the ribbon--that's not good.  I think I noticed that but forgot to fix as I was in a hurry to post or something.  - I wish I had someone to critique all the time as it does help u to see, really see! Well, happy painting all!

Peach. Roses and Copper (lesson 5 Liz Robbins)

I got to work on this again and I am calling it done. I fixed the stuff that was bothering me--and I see stuff I could fix but I don't think I will. (maybe I will but trying not to be so tight) We will see if it's a new me--lol. I did like doing this painting. Happy painting all.

Peach Roses w/Copper (5th lesson with Elizabeth Robbins)

I was home today cause of the weather--snow with ice under it---bad conditions--so I did not go to work.  I painted our 5th lesson---I think there is only one more till next year.  I am going to miss the lessons--they are such a joy to watch and I do over and over and over.
This of course is not done--I have so much to fix...my copper and brass vase needs to be corrected---it's out of whack. Also-the table is uneven, the grapes grew--the rose on the table looks strange. And how in the heck did white rose on the right  get sooooo big?
What's strange is that I was going to do a green background but it turned out a dark lavender---weird.  well Happy Painting!

Elizabeth Robbins 4th "E" lesson. Flow Blue & Roses

I worked more on this and I am calling this done--this little painting was harder than I thought--. Someone said you struggle before a leap in your painting ability--I hope so,. It could be that or I just need to paint more! lol  happy painting!

2nd pass on the 4th lesson

I worked again on this today. This simple little painting is hard for me--the pot is getting there, not done --and I am starting to like the middle rose better for the moment. I was going to keep painting but started feeling a little sick--taking a break till I feel better

Rose painting continued--3rd Liz Robbins on line class

I worked all day on this and redid everything. I oiled the dry painting like she shows us, but my stuff I used was old and had chunks in it . I scraped the chunks off and went ahead and brushed it on my painting.....It left a lot of lint-line stuff all over the painting. I wiped it off right away but it still had like dust particles all over it.  I tried to get  it off but didn't get all of it---sigh....anyway I used another oil--it didn't seem to let the paint flow--everything felt tacky. I just pushed myself to deal with it and repainted the whole painting. I feel it is not the worst painting I have ever done but certainly not the best.  This was very hard for me --the paint did not move for me as usual but this is the best I can do at this time. I do think it is better than my first try-I think I will post -oh well, Happy Painting!

Yellow Roses (Liz Robbins 3rd on-line lesson)

This of course is not done....I , again did not use the right size canvas and the flowers kinda grew and I almost did not have enough room.  The lesson was about looking at shapes--not a rose or petals but the shapes of dark and light and warm and cool and it boggled my mind.  I think I made it harder then it needed to be.  I do that sometimes when I try to hard....I painted this while we had our first blizzard of the year.  Church was canceled and I painted Sunday and again today (Monday) as I didn't;t go to work because of the slick streets.
I tried to work on it today and the paint was not dry but tacky--not the best conditions for painting. I overworked and just was trying to get it done.  I hurried and posted it on instagram and also on the closed group that we have for all of us who take the on-line course.  I left the posting stay for about 10 minutes and then pulled them off as I knew I need to work more on the painting,  The blue flowers look so gray in the photo--I do not like the gray color.
Anyway, I'm glad I decided to work more on this painting--I think I can make it better---I hope...
Happy painting!

Sunflowers (2nd Liz Robbins on-line-class)

Almost done--One more painting time to fix obvious mistakes (why can't I see them while I'm painting?
No one says it's easy and besides Walking Dead is on cause it's
Ricks last episode.
But I digress --I love these classes--learning so much--can' t wait to paint again on this --I think I can fix my mistakes with one more session. Happy painting

Here is the latest version--I am happier with this--I need to paint more and not be so lazy. Thanksgiving is over and I have extra days off so hope I'll get more painting time in. Hope your thanksgiving was good---mine sure was--love being with the family and of course the food!!!

Apples On A Shelf (1st lesson for Liz Robbins on-line class)

Here again I feel I cannot paint......I adored the lesson and I did learn a lot but really struggled with this.  This happens sometimes--I just don't understand the apple on the right---how on earth did I get it out of shape. I am not posting on on her private group page--but just here to remind me not every painting turns out right. Maybe, when I am in a better mood, I will go back and fix the shape on the hideous apple.  aargh!  lol
Happy painting!

Here is the latest version below--I finally got back to it and I like this better---hope you do too! Happy painting!

Roses (from Liz Robbins free lesson for on-line class) 2nd try

I worked again on this--don't know if u can tell any improvement--I worked on all the roses and changed the bud and leaves on the table. I don't think I can paint anymore.  I have been traumatized with my wreck on Friday--it feels now that I  will never be the same again---I know I know I am very dramatic--oh well happy painting!

Roses (from Liz Robbins free lesson for on-line class)

I have painted all weekend from Elizabeth Robbins free on-line class.  This is not done--I have to repaint the table when it dries as the paint is pulling off with each stroke, I want to work more on the roses and copper pitcher and also the bud and leaf on the floor.

I was so excited to paint this that I rushed ahead and messed up from the beginning.  I either placed the pot too high or painted the roses to big as there should be more room at the top.

I shouldn't post it to our private group page till I fix things---but I think I will as so many have already posted theirs and I feel behind.  Happy Painting!

Pumpkin Patch with Audrey

worked some more on this--I toned down the background, repositioned her head worked some on body. Really don't know if I helped it or made it worse---have to live with it a while. Panting can be so hard at times.

Pumpkin Patch with Audrey

This was an icy, cold slick roads day that I did not go to work, so I thought I would paint. It has been a very long time since I have painted and I feel like I forgot how.

I always feel like I have never painted before at this stage--looking at this I wonder.
I just have to get everything covered, and then , I will find my way. I hope.
I always know I can erase if it doesn't  work out as I wanted.
